What We've Done
Jersey City’s COVID-19 response must be guided by science and compassion. Combatting COVID-19, will remain my top priority until we are done with this awful disease. Here are some of the initiatives, I’ve worked on and will continue to pursue:
At the onset of the outbreak, called for the cancelation of large gatherings such as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and non-essential businesses that saved lives.
Sent regular COVID updates to provide actionable, digestible information to my constituents
Developed science-based policy proposals to guide JC’s response to the second-wave.
Wrote and passed laws to support local restaurants and small businesses who were being taken advantage of by big tech companies like GrubHub and DoorDash.
Lead a “Senior Cards” initiative, published a How to Help Guide and co-sponsored events all to build community despite COVID.
Proposed a plan to use a $5 million dollars in funding for an education campaign to help get more people vaccinated.
What We Are Going to Do
The Fight Against COVID-19
Vaccination remains our number one tool to combat this pandemic. Science shows that the vaccines are safe and highly effective at reducing the spread and severity of cases caused by the Delta Variant. Jersey City should follow the example set by President Biden and Mayor Bhalla to ensure that we are doing everything in our power to keep our kids back in classrooms safely this fall, and that the public at large is protected from this new wave of disease.
That's why I called for Jersey City to institute a vaccine mandate for all Municipal and School Board employees back in August. These vaccine mandates are one of the best ways to ensure that we get as many people vaccinated as possible. We must implement a mandate like this in Jersey City.
